Steven English
Managing Principal, Center Point LLC

Steve English advises business owners in needed changes and their impact on the strategic operations and technologies for their companies.  His value is based on helping clients make informed, justified decisions, based on financial measures as well as human factors.  Steve approaches an issue holistically, considering its impact on customers, employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Steve’s 30 years of broad experience includes corporate management in Fortune 500 firms, senior consultant to small to mid-size and larger firms, and entrepreneur.  He possesses broad knowledge about operations’ business processes and associated technologies that improve productivity. 

Steve’s entrepreneurial spirit, with a passion for building and leading companies, fuels his strong desire to help clients achieve excellence.

Notable achievements in Steve’ s career include serving as COO for a consumer goods e-commerce firm and for an IT consulting business, director of sales order management for a major software manufacturer, consulting principal and manager for two leading international consulting firms at CSC and Grant Thornton LLP, and in corporate management at Johnson & Johnson and The Franklin Mint. As an entrepreneur himself, English has participated in two startups, gaining an understanding of the issues faced by leaders of new and growing businesses. 

Steve has conceived, gained approval for, and led product identification and inventory management system solutions at the McNeil Consumer Healthcare division of Johnson & Johnson as well as at The Franklin Mint. He has advised on the industry and business process requirements for a leading catalog management company, industrial chemicals manufacturer and technology solution services firm.  He openly shares his knowledge about technology and business practices in defining technology’s role in improving business efficiency and information security.

Steve’s formal training includes a BS in Business Administration from Drexel University, a MBA from Pennsylvania State University and a MS in Organizational Dynamics with an emphasis on Corporate Technology Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.  He also has extensive training in management and technology concepts.

He is certified by the American Production & Inventory Control Society in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) and Integrated Resource Management (CIRM).  He has presented at local, regional and national conferences on strategic planning, the role of e-business in traditional “bricks-and-mortar” companies, managing multi-cultural teams and inventory management fundamentals.

Steve is a member of GPSEG (Greater Philadelphia Senior Executives Group), a group of over 700 executives from the region organized for 'Networking for Life'.  He is co-chair of its Supply Chain and Operations Management group, and participates in other subgroups for Technology, Professional Services and Life Sciences.

He volunteers as a business plan competition judge for Drexel University's Baiada Center for Entrepreneurial Technology, offering insights to student entrepreneur teams to improve their ability to secure funding and successfully launch their business concepts.

He has been interviewed by Philadelphia’s KYW 1060 News Radio on the state of the economy for mid-market businesses.
